Christian Gets AHL Call-up
Tuesday, April 1, 2009
Right winger Jeff Christian, the Tulsa Oilers leading scorer for the past two seasons, has signed with the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League. Christian is expected to be in the Rockford line-up when the IceHogs play the Lake Erie Monsters tonight in Cleveland.
Rockford, the top affiliate of the National Hockey League’s Chicago Blackhawks, is currently in the fourth and final playoff spot in the AHL’s West Division. The IceHogs, who have six games remaining, are only two points out of third place and four points of second place in their division.
Christian, 6-foot-2, 210 pounds from Burlington, Ontario just completed his second straight season as the Oilers leading scorer. In 56 games this past year, he led the Oilers with 27 goals, 49 assists and 76 points. In spite of missing eight games, he still finished tied for seventh in CHL scoring.

Oilers Drop Finale, 5-1
Saturday, March 21, 2009
The Tulsa Oilers scored first, but the Mississippi RiverKings answered with five unanswered goals and defeated the Oilers 5-1 in the final game of the Oilers season. Tulsa ends the season 18-38-8 with 44 points in fourth place in the Northeast Division.

Goaltender Davis Parley made 43 saves through two periods, and 54 saves on the game. Kai Magnussen had given the Oilers a 1-0 lead with the only goal of the first period. But Mississippi stormed back with a strong second period, outshooting the Oilers 25-3 and getting goals from Stephen Margeson, and Dallas Costanzo.

In the third period, Mississippi pulled away with goals by Dallas Steward, Garrett Larson and Matt Summers. Oiler fans can visit with head coach Tony Martino Monday at 7 p.m. at Cowboy Sharkies at 58th and Memorial.
