Animal Aid was founded in Tulsa in 1961, and has offered animal welfare-related services to the community ever since. Today Animal Aid is the only organization in Tulsa that stands ready to take in all sick or injured animals without owners, day or night. Animal Aid coordinates the most comprehensive database in the area of lost and found pets, and takes in information 24 hours a day. Since 1988, The Animal Rescue Foundation, a non-profit organization, has been rescuing pets from the City Animal Shelters and caring for them until they are adopted. Last year over 11,000 dogs and cats were euthanized in Tulsa alone. Our volunteers work hard to save those we can.
- Tulsa Animal Shelter
The cats and dogs featured on our web page are available for adoption on first come first serve basis. They were available for adoption when posted on our web page, but any one of them may have been adopted by this time. We do not guarantee that a cat or dog seen on our web page will be available to adopt when you arrive at the shelter. The City of Tulsa Animal Shelter does not reserve cats or dogs for adoption by telephone or e-mail. You must come to the shelter to adopt a cat or dog. Every attempt will be made to answer e-mail inquiries. If you are interested in a specific animal, call our volunteer line at 669-6283.

- Tip of the week:
Always keep identification on your pet in case they get lost. The shelter sees lots of animals that have obviously had a home, but have no identification. Less than 10% of dogs and 2% of cats that come to the shelter are picked up by their owners! If your pet is lost, remember to check the shelter EVERY DAY!
