In the hours leading up to a memorial service for an Owasso native killed in Afghanistan, a street in Owasso was lined with American flags and hundreds of people. 22-year-old Andrew Looney was one of two soldiers killed last Monday after an insurgent detonated a suicide vest at a traffic control point. The Owasso community wanted to show respect and honor. "We expected a few hundred and we got a lot more than that. And I am thrilled--I am absolutely thrilled to see all the people out here," says Liz Pruitt. She says the response was partially motivated by word that the controversial Westboro Baptist Church would protest Looney's memorial service at the Owasso High School. Many of those who lined the Owasso street and spent hours in the sun did not know Looney. This man says he wanted to honor the life of an American hero, "Feels good seeing this many people coming out-- supporting the family-- supporting a fellow patriot-- a fellow vet." Looney had joined the Army after high school. He will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery.
